For the next two weeks, tile is going in. Also today, the electricians started doing their exterior work to get us power to the house.
And holy crap, I just committed to be out of our rental house and have it cleaned so a new tenant can move in February 1st. There's still a lot to do, most of which is on Chip and me...assembling the four vanities I thought would be a great idea to buy from IKEA, installing the rest of the kitchen cabinets, installing the playroom sliding doors, hanging bathroom mirrors, and building the back door and master shower wall. Once tile is done, we can put in appliances and have the carpet installed. Also on the list: have the garage door installed, order and install glass into doors and master bathroom wall. And landscaping will probably have to wait until after we move in.

Day 79 - Jan. 4 - Tile begins
Today they cleaned the floors and put in some "leveler." Tomorrow they will start installing tile, and it'll probably take a week or longer. We're getting closer...
Days 72-78 - Dec. 28-Jan. 3 - Paint
We have paint on the walls. I will take some pictures tomorrow. My painter always thinks I'm nuts because of my color choices, and I don't think this house was an exception. We had to change one color because it looked pink instead of tan. Other than that, we're good to go.
Days 66-71 - more trim & Christmas!
Chip continued on the trim before and after Christmas. We spent Christmas with our families, so we took a couple of days off. We also set a lofty goal of moving in before February 1st. Think we can do it?

Days 61-65 - Dec. 17-21 - trim & interior stone work
Chip had the brilliant idea to trim the house ourselves. It's not a hard job, but it is time-consuming. Time is not something we have a lot of right now. Here's the beginning of the trim (base trim, doors, door trim, window sills).
We also started installing the kitchen cabinets since a lot of them will be painted.
We also got some more stone work done in the interior, including an accent wall and the back of the island.
Last, but certainly not least, Chip installed the front door he made. It's going to have glass in it. It's over sized (you're welcome, movers) and we copied it from a house we saw on a Made of Metal job.Days 54-60 - Dec. 10-16 - sheetrock
This week, we got sheetrock. They hung, taped, floated, sanded and sprayed texture. This is when you really get to see what the rooms look like. Here's the kitchen and breakfast room.
